An experimental sound i did while messing with audacity. Just like i did in that end sound, i just used my table to do the sound, but instead of pounding, i tapped it (man, my table is kinda useful for sfx. Xd). And after that, i added the vocoder, some reverb, and the echo effect then viola! this effect was born!.

Took a drum loop and pitched out 3 different layers of itself, one at half speed an octave down, one at quarter speed 2 octaves down, and one on top that starts out chopped up into separated transients and returns to full speed at the end. I originally made this to be 3 different levels of progression for a backing drum-loop, with the first section being the buildup, the second as the transition/windup, and the third as the breakdown.

I made this as a near ultrasonic sms signal. Created and edited with audacity, filtered with glame bandpass filter. If you hardly cut a pure tone, you introduce a whole lot of other frequencies to the signal at the cutting point. To avoid this after the cutting you need to filter the whole thing with a bandpass filter to ensure you have as little other frequency content as possible. It will audibly soften the start and the end of the sound. That's what i did here.

I recorded this sound with the microphone from the logitech quickcam for notebooks pro. I know, the webcam is really old but i happened to find it from my brothers room and used it for a microphone replacement. It was created in audacity by using a piece the audio track from the end of the movie "my cousin vinny". It is the line marisa tomei says as she and vinny are driving back to n. Y. (oh my god, what a f'ing nightmare). It was then noise-reduced, pitch and tempo adjusted, reversed, and paulstretched.

Recording of clothes in the dry cleaner for a bit longer than one hour. I recorded this in order to use for my newborn to be able to fall asleep as white noise sound. Works pretty fine because of the repetition;at the end of the recording, the machine stops and restarts a few times for a few short cycles. Recorded with zoom h4n in mp3 format. Reduced background noise in audition. Exported to ogg because of large file size.

This was a happy accient. I was charging a drone battery though an adapter with overvoltage protection, which started beeping and increasing in frequency as the battery got close to full charge. Heard a barred owl calling in my backyard. Grabbed my zoom h4n with audio-technica at897 shotgun mic and started recording. Did some minor equalization to soften the higher frequencies and roll off the low end. Crickets are chirping in the background, a few other insects make some sounds. Soft droning of a couple planes flying by and vehicles from a highway about a mile away, but do not overpower the barred owl.

The nt4 had quite a lot of top end hiss that i didn't really notice until too late.

Noises from an old gdr tube radio (1966, oberon) when tuning through mw, lw and ukw bands. I tried to separate the different noises and let them be heard for a few seconds so you can edit the noises you need. First there's lw, then mw then a few noises from buttons on the radio then ukw at the end with fragments of some german radio stations in 2021.

A recording of ringing a bicycle bell, slowed by 64%. Production stages- first of all we recorded the sound of a bicycle bell, then i imported it to audacity. I cut the beginning as well as the end, adding a constant gain at the beginning and a constant fade at the end so that the sound would be even more harmonic. Then i slightly compressed the sound, and normalized it. Then i used a “noise reduction” in order to get rid of the sound in the background and a slight equalizer. Tapping the carton to get the rest out and then throwing it into the pedal bin. Opening the microwave door, putting the bowl of soup in, tapping out the numbers and then turning the microwave on. Beeps at 1:50 to signal the end then open the door again. Natural kitchen ambience. Wav 24bit 44. 1khz.

A heartbeat sound i created. Fairly consistent through most of it, and then speeds up into heart-attack mode about 30 seconds from the end. To make it, i took a kick-drum sample and a snare-drum sample, and made a pattern of kick-snare, kick-snare, kick-snare, over and over. I then eq'd them to be less distinct and drum-like, added tape saturation to increase the low-end thumping, a small chorus effect and some compression to get rid of the drums' attack. . . Basically just over-processed the hell out of it. Then i used a plugin called wok m-st to get a fake hard-panned stereo effect. My goal was to make it sound like your heartbeat sounds in your ears when you've been running too fast for too long. I think it sounds cool.

A fascinating recording of a warm, humid mid august day in the midwest. This recording was made on sunday august 11th, 2019 near a popular dog park in a small southern illinois town. In addition to the gentle droning of the insects, and occassional birds, you will hear some dogs barking at various times toward the end of the piece. I personally love the tremendous echo on this recording. Equipment used: sounddevices mixpre-6. Microphones: left channel, sennheiser mkh416right channel, rode ntg-2.

A recording of strong north winds gusting through a neighborhood. You'll hear leaves ratttling, the flapping of a big tarp, dogs in the background far away, and, one of my favorites, wind chimes. The jingling wind chimes really get going towards the end of the recording. Occassionally a loud car drives by. I sat my handy zoom h4n recorder on my front porch for this one and used the internal microphones with record volume at 80. .

Douzens of frogs within a ditch at dusk end of may 2013, giving an evening concert. Recorded in moorende 25 km apart from hamburg. The ditch is a part of the old watering system of the huge apple plantages of the altes land. Recorded with a tascam dr-100 with its implememented stereo cardioids, 44,1 khz, 16 bit stereo. Fortunately and unusually nearly no wind during the recording and only one motorbike passing at the small road beneath - which i was able to cut off unnoticable.

This is a crusty old tape i found. Field recordings possibly made maybe in the 70's or 80's. The end of the tape is weird i think he recorded a dog panting or maybe its a cat purring but has slowed it down. It sounds cool and i always wanted to use it for something but never quite managed to make it fit.

A grey squirrel at the edge of a wood seemed quite upset and repeated called for about 5 minutes. I recorded the end of its calling. It is also my first attempt at recording sound with my camera (canon eos 550d). There turned out to be a fan noise with a slight clicking. I ran noise reduction in audacity to remove it and to help reduce the sound of traffic.

It is a rainy afternoon and there is a fair amount of pedestrian and automobile traffic underway. The recorder is on street level, pedestrians can be heard speaking swedish, german, russian and a variety of other languages. This was recorded from my windowsill facing onto a tarmac driveway in august 2012. There is the occasional tinkling sound of raindrops hitting a metal gate, some traffic noise, the occasional bit of thunder, and some shouts of people getting wet. At the end, raindrops start falling onto the recorder. This is fairly heavy rain by oxford standards; we probably get something like this only a couple of times a year. This fall turned into hail a bit later. Recorded with a marantz pmd661.
